Edwardian Dress - Exquisite c. 1912 Authentic Silk Titanic Era Wedding Dress with Rose Embroidery Throughout and Squared Train
This elegant vintage Edwardian gown is made of lightweight and softly lustrous silk. A passion project of mine, it's finally as ready as it will ever be, but please do read the condition notes. It's a 1912 beauty, with the high waist and sleek lines that define the Titanic era look. The exceptionally soft silk is embroidered throughout with a repeating rose motif. It's present on the collar. On the waist. Running down the paneled overskirt. Across the bodice and the end of the overskirt is a border version, with rows of posies framing a climbing, vine-like rose motif. The sleeves are shirred, and having dripping lace and silk covered wooden bead dingle-balls. The lining is diaphanous, feather-light silk. It suspends the trained underskirt. The panels hook closed over this at the center front and back. The closure is a complex, two layered process of hooks and eyes, some that wrap around the collar and waist. The final look is all dramatic elegance, lustrous and quintessential. Intended to be worn with period correct corset, which will change the lines from what is shown on the model.

Condition: Good, as is with flaws -This is best for someone who is accepting of visible imperfections - but it's surprisingly sturdy and wearable.
PLEASE NOTE: I removed all the steel hooks and eyes in order to clean this and treat rust spots they had caused in the past. It was shown pinned on the model, as I wanted to give the buyer the choice of having the original hooks and eyes put back in place, or if they would like them replaced with modern aluminum, which won't rust. (Either way, a few were missing and will be replaced with new) Please note your preference in the "seller notes" section and allow a couple days for me to sewn on the truly significant number of closure pieces this garment uses.
I am delighted to report that beautiful gown is very wearable, although of course, it should be worn with care. The silk has never heard of dry rot - it is SO soft and lux. My condition assessment has been painstaking - please do not mistake my care and attention to the flaws as meaning the gown is in worse shape that it is. As mentioned, there's some rust spots. And I've really improved them, but some still remain in areas not covered when worn and I'm not willing to be more aggressive with it.
Flaws at front: there are four tiny pinhead rust spots below the waistline at the left front. The right sleeve has four rust spots of 1/8" each. There is one last rust spot that gets hidden when the overskirt is hooked closed. The *lining* silk has a hole at the center front that is 1/2" x 3/8", but this is 100% covered when the skirt is hooked closed. There are some tiny holes in the silk overskirt - a little cluster of four at the lower left front, and one that is 1/8" in the corner of a rose just a bit above. The right side of the overskirt has a 1/4" hole at hip level on the far side, and two tiny little holes lower down.
Flaws at back: hidden when worn, all the closure points have rust staining, and there's some hidden areas of the lining that have spots not seen when worn or displayed. The most notable visible cluster is at the back right hip, shown in the last photo. This is made up of tin pin print marks, two pinhead spots and four spots from 1/8"-1/4". The back panel has twenty seven little dots. There's one spot on the back of the right sleeve, and two at the back underarm. I believe that's it!

May I reserve an item or put an item on Layaway?
Yes, and you've got options! Klarna is a service available for all items on Etsy to buyers from some countries. Additionally in-shop layaway is available for items over $100. Items between $100 and 300.00 may be set up on a two part, 30 day layaway. Items over $300 may be put on three part layaway plan, with length determined by value. Items over $1000 may be put on four part plan, typically for 90 days. Layaway cannot be combined with sale prices, coupons or other discounts. Customers may put more than one item on Layaway, but the prices cannot be combined to extend the duration.

Yes, it is. All items larger than the form are pinned too represent their accurate fit and shape. We are careful to accurately represent the actual cut of the garment. Don't rely on the size of the model in any way.

I allow returns or exchanges in only rare occasions - only when I have made an egregious error.
You must contact us with 48 hours of receiving your order if you have an issue, and if an exchange is approved, it must be sent within 48 hours after our communication. Items purchased and worn for special events may not be returned - we are not a rental facility. No refunds are issued based on issues with the fit of a garment, please measure carefully and feel free to make inquiries if you need help with sizing.
Vintage lingerie cannot be returned or exchanged, due to its intimate nature. Clearance items, items noted "as-is" and items sold on layaway may not be returned or exchanged.
