Incredible Antique Three Piece Wool Knit Sweater Set with Turtleneck Jumper, Scarf and Cap by Henry Hesse

I cannot emphasize enough how fantastically rare this three piece knit ensemble. It's not just that the sweater, cap and scarf are still together - it's also the condition! This set is immaculate - no moth chews, no storage soil. Made by Henry Hesse, a company who imported yarns, and sold both materials and machine knitted garments via catalogue throughout the 19th century. The last evidence of them as a company is 1922, and I think this was probably made in later edwardian year due slight fullness in the sleeve, but it's just so timeless that it's hard for me to give it an accurate date - it doesn't look like early 20s sweaters, though.
It's a warm cinnamon brown, banded with bright yellow, kelly green and darker brown - this edges the banded cuffs and turtle neck and that wide waist on the sweater, as well as the the cap - including the pom pon, and each end of the scarf. The stitches are tight and perfect - I feel its likely this was never worn until we modeled it, the wool has never relaxed and never felted, you can still even see the very slight difference in width on the color bands on the scarf. The scarf is shorter and wider than we are accustomed to today, but the cap is so classic I wouldn't be able to date it apart from the set, although the quality is beyond anything you'd see today. This is just rare, wonderful, fresh and yes it CAN last another 100 years.

This sweater set is, in every way that I can find, immaculate. The stitches are even and perfect. There is not the sign a single moth has ever looked its way. There is the faintest odor of cedar storage chest, in the best way - it is not old, or musty, just perfectly stored. The fringe on the scarf has never tangled. The colors are rich, vibrant and even. Truly, a once in a lifetime find.

Yes, and you've got options! Klarna is a service available for all items on Etsy to buyers from some countries. Additionally in-shop layaway is available for items over $100. Items between $100 and 300.00 may be set up on a two part, 30 day layaway. Items over $300 may be put on three part layaway plan, with length determined by value. Items over $1000 may be put on four part plan, typically for 90 days. Layaway cannot be combined with sale prices, coupons or other discounts. Customers may put more than one item on Layaway, but the prices cannot be combined to extend the duration.

I have an issue, may I return an item?
I allow returns or exchanges in only rare occasions - only when I have made an egregious error.
You must contact us with 48 hours of receiving your order if you have an issue, and if an exchange is approved, it must be sent within 48 hours after our communication. Items purchased and worn for special events may not be returned - we are not a rental facility. No refunds are issued based on issues with the fit of a garment, please measure carefully and feel free to make inquiries if you need help with sizing.
Vintage lingerie cannot be returned or exchanged, due to its intimate nature. Clearance items, items noted "as-is" and items sold on layaway may not be returned or exchanged.
