It is so rare these days that I get to offer an antique wedding dress that has been in the family since the wedding, and has its provenance still attached. The family didn't want to share her full name, but this is June, married on June 28th, 1923. The dress comes with the original lace headdress that she then pinned the wax flowers to, along with other little millinery blooms, and an extra cluster of wax flowers - show in the models hair - that you can see in the photo she wore as a brooch. Some of the ribbons dangling from her bouquet are included as well, and her original veil, which is sadly shattering and unwearable.

The dress itself the softest silk from the era I think I've ever touched not a hint of dryness - the exterior is a base of luxurious chiffon banded with row after row of satin ribbon. You'll note that the dress looks much longer on the bride - she must have been quite short, as I counted the number of ribbon bands, and they all match. She even had to remove one ribbon tier for length and that is still present, and could added back if you so desire. I would never have known, if it wasn't with her keepsakes. And because fashion doesn't change along hard lines - this is a shape that feels more 1910s - bloused bodice, and a waistband that sits on the actual waist. The interior is the softest, light-as-air tissue silk, and there is a sturdy petersham waistband for support. It closes at the back with hook and eyes and snaps. A really special piece.

As I already said, this is the softest 103 year old silk I can image. It was so well stored - this type of tissue silk is often dry and breaking, but it is incredibly soft. That said, this dress has not been cleaned. Not because I think the silk is too delicate to hand launder, but because I don't want to risk drying the silk in any way - the dress itself seems as soft as the day it was worn. There is one exception - the pinned on bow at back seems to be a slightly different silk, and it feels a little crisp. This leaves some dinginess and staining through the underarms, but it doesn't stand out when worn. There is a single small hole at the right underarm. One ribbon band has a little pull/fiber rolling by the left shoulder. There is one black pinhead spot on a ribbon band on the skirt, and one has a little brown spot.

Yes, and you've got options! Klarna is a service available for all items on Etsy to buyers from some countries. Additionally in-shop layaway is available for items over $100. Items between $100 and 300.00 may be set up on a two part, 30 day layaway. Items over $300 may be put on three part layaway plan, with length determined by value. Items over $1000 may be put on four part plan, typically for 90 days. Layaway cannot be combined with sale prices, coupons or other discounts. Customers may put more than one item on Layaway, but the prices cannot be combined to extend the duration.

The measurement look larger than the mode/dress form. Is this item pinned?

Yes, it is. All items larger than the form are pinned too represent their accurate fit and shape. We are careful to accurately represent the actual cut of the garment. Don't rely on the size of the model in any way.

I have an issue, may I return an item?

I allow returns or exchanges in only rare occasions - only when I have made an egregious error.

You must contact us with 48 hours of receiving your order if you have an issue, and if an exchange is approved, it must be sent within 48 hours after our communication. Items purchased and worn for special events may not be returned - we are not a rental facility. No refunds are issued based on issues with the fit of a garment, please measure carefully and feel free to make inquiries if you need help with sizing.

Vintage lingerie cannot be returned or exchanged, due to its intimate nature. Clearance items, items noted "as-is" and items sold on layaway may not be returned or exchanged.

Are Accessories Included?

Only accessories original to the piece and specifically described in the listing are included with purchase. All contrasting belts, necklaces, scarves or other items on mannequins or models are for inspiration only and are not included.
