In any my years in business, this is the first NRA labeled tweed suit I have come across. Oh, I've had plenty of dresses, some jackets, hats of course - but this one? This is pretty special. Made of a richly textured wool in oatmeal and brown dotted tweed, the weave has a very subtle texture of chevrons. The jacket is strongly influenced by the Edwardian revival of the period - a high neck, full cut sleeves that come to a taper fitted cuff. At the back, there are two deep pleats, but these do not expand - they are held perfectly in place with the lining, for the sleek look of the 30s. While the original belt is not present, it has belt loops, and is meant to be belted, which helps expose the buttons down the center of the skirt. The skirt is long and sleek, a full 31" in length, and all of its dozen buttons are functional buttons, so you can open the lower buttons if you need to go tromping. This is, after all, sportswear. The suit has a fantastic TWENTY ONE matching deco era buttons - not one is lost. Twelve on the skirt, five on the jacket and two smaller versions of each cuff. The jacket is lined in a cold rayon, and the skirt is unlined.

This suit has been freshly dry cleaned and is ready to wear. I have not hand laundered it, and there remain some faint yellowed spots in the skirt, but these are really minor. There is a good deal of selvage, and I was able to take some material from the selvage near the hem of the skirt to very neatly mend three moth chews in the skirt on the right front panel, a few on the left sleeve, and one on the right. There is a single tiny dot above the last button on the jacket. I believe the lining is a replacement, as the was shattered silk in the pockets. The lining makes it hard to access these for repair, so I have stitched them shut, with an easily removed hand stitch, as you see on new suits. The lining has a small pencil eraser shaped hole, and some light soil, nothing significant.
